Jannis Angelis

Associate Professor of Operations Strategy
Royal Institute of Technology

Jannis is an associate professor of operations strategy at the Royal Institute of Technology focusing on how competitiveness is enabled and maintained. He has a Ph.D. on operations management from Cambridge and previously explored strategy at Harvard, productivity in knowledge-intensive firms at Stanford and Berkeley, lean at Cambridge and high-performance firms at Oxford and MIT. His professional roles include trade conditions at the ILO (UN), associate director in a VC firm, director of a consulting firm, and competitiveness consultant at ITC (WTO). He has won several international research awards, including the lean Shingo Prize.

Derek Bartley

President and CEO

After graduating from Tennessee Technological University, C2Q President and CEO Derek Bartley began his career as an industrial engineer for Guardian Industries, one of the world's largest automotive glass and trim suppliers based out of Auburn Hills, Mich. After several years working his way up the ranks in the trim division, he left with an extensive knowledge and passion for people on the shop floor. He learned that these experts in their skilled trades are where results are born. He carried that knowledge and put it to successful use in his positions in engineering and operations for a handful of the South's most established and innovative manufacturers. He has since dedicated his career solely to helping companies discover the untapped people and possibilities on the shop floor to drive unprecedented results in safety, productivity and quality – all of the key metrics that impact a company's bottom line.

David Bazinet

Director of Operational Excellence
Cantel Medical

David Bazinet serves Cantel Medical as director of operational excellence after having served for four years as the director of manufacturing at Cantel’s Medivators business unit located in Conroe, Texas. Bazinet entered the medical device manufacturing industry in 1992 after having had a successful career as an engineer with General Dynamics Inc. David holds a B.S. in industrial technology with a major in production and inventory management. Bazinet is a certified lean master black belt (IIE) and is nearing the completion of his Six Sigma black belt certification project. David has two lean site deployments to his credit and five in progress.  With more than 25 years of continuous improvement experience, Bazinet's passion for process improvement shows in his everyday activities. His comprehensive business knowledge supports his many successes.

Brian Carroll

Vice President of Field Operations
Honeywell Building Solutions Americas

Brian Carroll is vice president of field operations for Honeywell Building Solutions Americas. Honeywell Building Solutions is a strategic business unit of Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions, which provides product and service solutions that improve efficiency and profitability; support regulatory compliance; and maintain safe, comfortable environments in homes, buildings and industry.

Brian has a B.S. in industrial distribution from Clarkson University and an MBA from Rider University. He is also a Six Sigma black belt.

Steve Hoeft

Chief of Operations Excellence
Baylor Scott & White Health

For more than 30 years, Hoeft has been a practitioner, teacher and thought-leader in applying Toyota Production System (lean) principles to unique processes such as healthcare. His book, Stories from My Sensei, won a 2011 Shingo Prize. He helped more than 30 large health systems integrate effective continuous improvement efforts into their strategic plans. He’s an expert in hoshin kanri (goal alignment and cascading) and teaches leaders to build lean management systems to sustain and spread improvements. Hoeft was the developer and principal instructor for key courses in University of Michigan’s Lean Healthcare, New Product Development and Manufacturing certificate programs.

Paula Romo

Senior Performance Analyst for Process Improvement
City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Paula Romo is responsible for developing and deploying the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Process Improvement Program. Prior to this role, she worked at Miami Dade County’s Office of Management and Budget improving processes for the solid waste department and the county hospital. Romo received her undergraduate degree in industrial engineering while living in Chile and worked in the copper mining industry as a management engineer for global mining companies like CODELCO and BHP Billiton. In 2008, she moved to the United States to pursue her MBA and transition her work toward applying the methodologies of lean and Six Sigma to improve the service of local government.

Wade Vincent

Manager of TSSC
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc.

Wade Vincent is manager of TSSC at Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc. (TEMA), located near Cincinnati in Erlanger, Ky. TEMA supports Toyota's engineering and manufacturing operations in North America. He is responsible for project management putting special focus on timely delivery, quality and outcome; TSSC team member development; and coordination of training workshops.

TSSC is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with TEMA that shares Toyota Production System (TPS) know-how with North American organizations that have a true desire to learn and adopt TPS as a way to strengthen the quality, safety and productivity of their production systems. Vincent began his career with Toyota in 1999 in the body weld department at New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. in Fremont, Calif., and progressed through a series of promotions with assignments in body weld, assembly and human resources.

Prior to his career at Toyota, Vincent worked at Gillig Corp. as production supervisor. Vincent served in the U.S. Navy from 1987 to 1991 with duty aboard the USS Enterprise, responsible for flight deck operations and supervision.
