2012 SEMS Best Student Paper Winners Announced

The second annual SEMS Student Technical Paper Competition recognized three highly qualified students from diverse universities and with diverse experiences. The competition was sponsored by Transformation Systems Inc. (TSI), an executive strategies and management system engineering firm that specializes in transformational leadership dedicated to making organizations leaner, faster, better and smarter. TSI sponsored the student competition for papers and projects demonstrating or describing the use of management and industrial engineering tools and techniques for achieving bold goals. The goal of the competition is to recognize student research and their papers that demonstrate or describe the use of techniques that improve productivity and quality through effective and economical managerial techniques and philosophies. 

The winners are as follows:

1st Place: Akkarapol Sa-Ngasoongsong from Oklahoma State University, "Long-Term Demand Prediction using Long-Run Equilibrium Relationship of Intrinsic Time-Scale Decomposition Components"

2nd Place: Patrick Garner from the University of Pittsburgh, "Complexities in the Operating Room"

3rd Place: Bhanuchander Poreddy and Benjamin Daniels from Missouri University of Science and Technology, "Mathematical Model of Sub-System Interactions for Forward Operating Bases" 

The awards were formally presented during the IIE Annual Conference and Expo 2012 in Orlando, Fla., in May.
