East to Get There
By Air: Orlando (MCO) Airport International Airport offers more flights to more places than any other airport in Florida; in fact Orlando International Airport provides non-stop service to more major U.S. destinations than most other cities in the U.S. Orlando offers the largest airport area with the 2nd lowest fares of the top 30 airports in the United States.
With more than 800 flights per day, on more than 40 airlines, Orlando International Airport is so easy to get to, that's why more than 90,000 passengers use the airport every day.
Orlando is the perfect choice for domestic travel or international connections. Whether traveling within the U.S. or around the world, heading for Orlando or just connecting through the airport, Orlando's superior domestic route network gives you more service to more destinations, making your journey quicker and more convenient.
By Road: There are several major highways that provide East connections and access from all ports of Florida. Interstate 4 runs from Daytona Beach on the East Coast to St. Petersburg on the West Coast. Interstate 10 enters the state in the panhandle and extends to Jacksonville in the Northeast. Interstate 75 enters Florida just South of Valdosta, Ga., and runs south to Miami and the Florida Turnpike connects I-75 South to Ocala, extending southeast through Orlando and continuing South to Miami.
By Rail: Amtrak serves Orlando with four daily trains originating in New York and Miami, with stops in Downtown Orlando, Winter Park, Sanford and Kissimmee. There’s also tri-weekly train service from the West Coast, originating in Los Angeles.
International Travelers: A U.S. visitors (B-1) visa allows a foreign citizen to travel to a port of entry and request admission into the United States from a U.S. immigration inspector. Begin your visa application process as early as possible as it could take several months to process.
The US-VISIT program is now in effect and applies to all visitors (with limited exceptions) holding non-immigrant visas, regardless of country of origin. Visitors will now have their two index fingers scanned and a digital photograph will be taken.
Visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries
For 35 countries in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), citizens meeting the visa waiver criteria will not need a visa but they must have a machine-readable passport. In addition, as of Jan. 12, 2009, travelers visiting the United States from VWP countries must be approved for travel electronically prior to boarding a carrier to the United States. Travelers must fill out the forms online at least 72 hours in advance of travel.
Registration via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is intended to replace the I-94W paper form by collecting biographical information over the Internet from visitors from countries that participate in the VWP.
