Council on Industrial and Systems Engineering
The Council on Industrial and Systems Engineering (CISE) comprises 30 individuals who are ranking executives of industrial, commercial, or government organizations. CISE members have extensive experience in the management and practice of industrial engineering. Their current activities influence the image and practice of the profession, and their span of control includes the function of industrial engineering at the corporate level.
The purpose of the CISE is:
- To further the sharing of information among its members regarding best business practices and processes in the profession of industrial engineering.
- To be a forum of learning for emerging technologies and new practices and processes through guest lectures, plant visits and other appropriate means.
- To be an information advisory group to IIE and its constituent groups in support of the profession and IIE’s mission.

CISE Undergraduate Scholarship. Applicants can send in application form and project write-up including how work was conducted, IE tools and skills used and applied. Project should be conducted for a business or non-profit as part of a work internship (paid or unpaid) or research project to benefit the organization. Submittal should include information on objective, approach, data (if able to be shared), alternatives, conclusions, impact on organization, implementation plan, and acceptance of results by the organization. A summary of learnings that student achieved as a result should be included. A final report submitted to the organization upon conclusion of the project could serve as the application for the scholarship if appropriate. The application must be accompanied by a letter of support from the sponsoring or subject enterprise. Applications and project write-ups are due Feb. 1, 2016. The successful candidate will receive a $2,000 award, as well as a $500 stipend to cover travel expenses to the Annual Institute of Industrial Engineers Conference as it is the intent that the successful candidate will present their project case study at the conference.
