About Us
Welcome to the 2005-2006 South Jersey IIE program year. This year, as many, is exciting and packed full of quality professional programs and plant tours. My name is Edward Ball, and I am honored to be serving as your President of South Jersey local chapter #132. I have been pleased to serve the IIE over the last five years, and been a member for ten years and counting. I got my start in Industrial Engineering from the day I graduated from West Virginia University. One fortunate thing for me was that WVU wanted their student members to be part of a professional society called the Institue of Industrial Engineers I said to myself this is a great way to learn more about the profession because I would get a monthly magazine exploring “real world” problems and solutions. Now I barely have time to read the monthly publication with work, family, home maintenance, and school (My daughter starts her first day of pre-school in 12 days). But, when I do get a moment to read, I still find the same quality articles showing how to apply Industrial Engineering tools to solve everyday problems.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2005-2006 Board of Directors for their continued work. They provide the professional support and time it takes to make this a successful chapter year after year. We always welcome members to our monthly board meetings, which are normally held the first Tuesday of the month.
Membership has managed to sustain over the past few years, but we are loosing some of our long term members. Watson Dean served the IIE and was a member in good standing at the time of his passing. In his honor, we are in the process of creating the “Watson Dean Scholarship” to help attract new students. I ask that all senior members try to bring a new potential member to a dinner meeting this year. Come out and enjoy the networking, catch up with some old colleagues, or break up the everyday routine of sitting in front of the television when you get home. IIE has a lot to offer to you and you have a lot to offer the IIE.
I look forward to an entertaining and informational program year.
Edward Ball
