ABET elects Rogers its 2013-14 president-elect

The ABET Board of Directors elected K.J. (Jamie) Rogers, Ph.D., P.E., as its 2013-14 president-elect on March 23.

According to a news release by ABET, Rogers has years of experience as an ABET volunteer. She has been a representative director from the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) on the ABET Board of Directors since 2008 and has served on both the board's finance committee and its governance task force during that time. Prior to that, she was a member of ABET's International Activities Council, now called the Global Council, and the Accreditation Council Training Committee, where she helped design and implement transformative change in program evaluator training.

Rogers is a 34-year member of IIE. She was a member of the Engineering Accreditation Council from 1999 to 2004, after beginning her ABET service as an evaluator for industrial engineering programs in 1991.

Rogers is currently a professor and associate chair of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition, she serves on the UT System – Systems Engineering in Healthcare Steering Committee, whose mission is to apply systems engineering tools and methods to revolutionize healthcare operations across the University of Texas System.
