Biographies of IIE North Central Region Leadership Team (2009)
Randy Wahlstrom is a senior facilities engineer at Boston Scientific in Maple Grove, Minn. He received his Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and management from North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D. He also received his Master of Engineering Management degree from Washington State University and his Master of Business Administration from Southwest Minnesota State University. Randy has more than 20 years of experience in various roles relating to industrial engineering including: lean manufacturing, capacity and demand planning, energy research, process improvement, facilities design, space planning and facilities project management. He is currently the regional vice president of the North Central Region and the past president of Twin Cities Chapter 38.
Eric Koehler is a staff industrial engineer at Seagate Technology in Shakopee, Minn. He received his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He also received his Master of Industrial Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology, in Minneapolis. Eric has utilized his background in industrial engineering to develop expertise in the areas of process development, project engineering and system optimization. He is currently the assistant regional vice president of the North Central Region and a past president of Twin Cities Chapter 38.
Ben Fong is an assistant project manager at Celerant Consulting Inc. He received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and doctorate in ISE from Virginia Polytechnic and State University and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in Arlington. He has 14 years of industrial and consulting experience in industrial control solutions, heavy construction equipment, automotive, fiber optics and engineered lumber. His research interests include control strategy to design multistage and supply chain system dynamics. He is currently the assistant vice president for student development of the North Central Region and the IIE Industrial Advisory Board member. He is a certified Six Sigma black belt. He holds his P.E. license in the state of Virginia and is an American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer.
Sushma Sripada is the communications director for the North Central Region. Sushma has a bachelor’s degree in production engineering from India and received her master's degree in industrial engineering from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan. She is working as a continuous improvement supervisor at Helwig Carbon Products Inc. in Milwaukee, Wis., and has been at Helwig for three years.
Jason Materi is an industrial engineer with Boston Scientific in Maple Grove, Minn. He received his Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and management from North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D. Jason is responsible for lean coaching and leading continuous improvement initiatives for Maple Grove's coating and packaging business unit. He has co-facilitated several lean training events as well as co-led workshops at the 2007 and 2008 regional student conferences. Jason is the Young Professionals representative for the North Central Region.
