Victor Aguayo-Moreno

Business process and applications manager
Rhenus Contract Logistics BV
Tilburg, Netherlands

Rhenus Contract Logistics is a logistics service provider offering primarily order fulfillment activities and value-added services as well as carrier selection and customs clearance activities. We have clients with products in different categories, such as medical devices, high-tech products, chemicals and even Christmas cards from companies like Creative Labs, Akzo Nobel and UNICEF.

I’m responsible for implementing and deploying our logistics solutions within our facilities, integrating our systems with those of our clients and/or carriers, and creating a roadmap for the business applications landscape. When integrating a new client or a carrier into our systems, I lead the project from beginning to end. In short, I’m the link between IT and logistics operations, ensuring the proper interpretation of processes is translated into the ideal IT solution.

As an industrial engineer, I’m always on the lookout for the most efficient process. I work closely with the logistics engineers and the operation on the work floor to understand their requirements. IE has always helped me take a step back from IT and have a look at the big picture, the different stakeholders and their interactions.

The best part of my job is the start of a new project. Design sessions are carried out in order to define the processes and the optimal IT solution. My knowledge and skills are tested because the decisions made during this time are crucial for the subsequent phases of the project. I love when a challenging question from a client prompts your brain quickly to connect the dots and form the perfect shape: the ideal IT solution.

The perfect day is when there is a match of our existing processes and IT solutions with those of our customer – all the logistical information is readily available and our customer’s IT systems are capable of transmitting all that information.
