SIX SIGMA GREEN BELT FOR HEALTHCARE

3 day(s) | 2.10 CEUs

REGISTRATION FEE: Member: $1,195 | Non-member: $1,545

This seminar, the introductory course in Six Sigma, will give you a thorough understanding of Six Sigma as applied to healthcare and its focus on eliminating defects through fundamental process knowledge. The course has been designed to cover all of the recognized Six Sigma green belt topics efficiently. The class includes those concepts and tools that provide immediate value when applied at all levels of an organization’s operations. IIE instructors have had years of experience applying these to real processes ranging from manufacturing to healthcare to financial services to government. Topics covered in addition to DMAIIC and Six Sigma philosophy include basic statistics, statistical process control, process capability, financial implications and root cause analysis. This seminar is offered both in the classroom and online.

It is the first true introductory course and is intended for individuals at all levels within the organization.    The IIE Green Belt course is shorter than many other Green Belt courses because we include only the tools and information necessary for immediate application. Instead of padding our hands-on courses with black belt topics that the beginner practitioner does not need, we keep the black belt topics in the advanced courses and allow the beginner practitioner to learn the basics quickly to improve operations.

Overview:

Learn how to integrate principles of business, statistics and engineering to achieve tangible results. Master the use of Six Sigma to quantify the critical quality issues facing healthcare. Once the issues have been quantified, statistics can be applied to provide probabilities of success and failure. Six Sigma methods increase productivity and enhance quality. As a Six Sigma green belt, you will be equipped to support and champion Six Sigma implementation in your healthcare organization. To earn the Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate, you will be required to pass IIE's green belt exam.

During this course you will have the opportunity to apply what you have learned to an actual issue you face in your organization. Prior seminar participants have reported significant savings from implementing their projects.

  • A financial services organization saw $128,000 in cost savings per quarter when they reduced transaction processing rework
  • A drug store chain save $173 million by managing its inventory of prescription medications more effectively
  • A regional hospital saved $300,000 annually by eliminating duplication of services
  • A state agency reduced project cost over-runs by 28 percent
  • A large urban hospital reduced length of stay and was able to postpone a proposed expansion thereby deferring over $7 million in capital expenditures.
