Introduction to IE in Healthcare Online On-Demand

Overview:

Increasing requirements for cost control and operational efficiencies, decreasing reimbursements and the emergence of large healthcare systems are key factors in the healthcare industry’s  growing need for improving performance. This course will address the differences between traditional industry and healthcare from an industrial engineering perspective and equip you with the information and tools you need to be successful as an IE in health care.

What You Will Learn:

  • Analyze the organizational structure of health systems, current and expected industry trends and the politics of the healthcare workplace
  • Evaluate system constraints that impact true optimization
  • Identify the impact of reimbursements, finances, community relations and government on healthcare decision making
  • Justify the use of management engineering in your organization 

Online Details

The On-Demand course is divided into five units. Each unit will include from 30 or more minutes of recorded material (audio and video). 

  • Unit 1: Introduction, Healthcare challenges
  • Unit 2: Hospital Operations, IE's in Healthcare
  • Unit 3: IE Tools, Benchmarking
  • Unit 4: Project Management & Process Improvement, Case Studies
  • Unit 5: Simulation,  Sample Project

After completing the course materials you will have the option to take the online  exam.  The exam is included in the course fee.   Participants who pass the exam (70% or higher) will receive upon request a CEU certificate of completion.

Requirements

  • Users of On Demand Seminars must have an established Internet connection.
  • Access to content is only available for six (6) months. Access will expire six (6) months from the date of purchase.

How to Access

After you have registered for the course you will be e-mailed a receipt for your purchase. At the bottom of  that receipt will be the link to the login page. Alternatively, you can reach the login page by clicking the "My Account" link at the top of the training website (www.iietrainingcenter.org).  Login with your user name and password you setup during the registration process and you will see a list of the online courses you have purchased with their expiration dates. Click the "Select" link next to the course you wish to view. You will then be taken to a page with links to the Units. Simply click the "Launch" button next to the Unit you wish to view.
