Joyce Holshouser Benton, R.N., risk control director, CNA Healthcare
Joyce Holshouser Benton is a frequent speaker on healthcare risk management at the state and national level and has authored several articles. Benton earned a diploma degree in nursing from Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, a bachelor of science in health arts from the College of St. Francis, a master of science in administration with a concentration in health services from Central Michigan University, and her associate’s degrees in risk management and risk management for public entities from the Insurance Institute of America. She previously served as the director of quality management and safety in at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge, Ga., where she developed risk management and infection control programs as well as restructured the safety and workers’ compensation programs. Benton is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and is a faculty member of ASHRM’s certificate and CPHRM certification programs. She's also an active member of the Georgia Society for Healthcare Risk Management.

Lynda Enos, R.N., ergonomic/human factors consultant, HumanFit LLC
Lynda Enos has more than 25 years of work and consulting experience in both healthcare and industrial domains. She holds an undergraduate degree in nursing and a graduate degree in human factors from the University of Idaho. She is a certified occupational health nurse and certified professional ergonomist, and is also certified by IIE as a lean Six Sigma green belt practitioner for healthcare. Since 1992, Enos has provided comprehensive ergonomics consulting services to more than 200 companies in manufacturing, semiconductor, wood products, and services sector facilities nationwide via her company, HumanFit. She has provided consultation in safe patient handling and ergonomics to 25 hospital systems and also to public health clinics and home health and hospice services. Enos has authored numerous technical presentations made at national and international conferences, and published several articles and a book chapter advocating for SPH and Ergonomics programs.

Brian H. Fillipo, M.D., chief medical officer/chief quality officer, Guthrie Health
Dr. Brian Fillipo is the chief medical officer/chief quality officer for Guthrie Health and the DIO for Robert Packer Hospital. He has previously served as chief quality officer of Moses Cone Health System in North Carolina and as associate chief medical officer for Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania. Dr. Fillipo is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and has completed the Masters of Medical Management program at Tulane University.

Vicki R. Lewis, Ph.D., scientific director and usability division chief, MedStar’s National Center for Human Factors Engineering in Healthcare
Vicki Lewis is a seasoned center leader and program manager with 20 years of experience conducting research and consulting in human factors engineering, usability, human systems integration, safety, training and user-interface design. As director of the usability division, Lewis leads a team in the usability evaluation of medical devices in all stages of the development process, for manufacturer, hospital, and other clients in the healthcare industry. She previously worked as a research scientist in the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering investigating human factors issues in the healthcare domain. As director of the Center for Vehicle-Infrastructure Safety at Virginia Tech, Lewis conducted a program applying the HSI philosophy to issues of driver fatigue, driver distraction, and the evaluation of in-vehicle information and warning systems. Lewis received her Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering/human factors engineering from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., and holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Idaho. She has authored more than 90 scientific articles, technical reports, and book chapters, in addition to two published transportation-related safety standards.

W. Tim McGlothlin, C.P.E., executive director, The Ergonomics Center | Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering
Tim McGlothlin currently serves as the executive director for The Ergonomics Center of North Carolina. He also serves on the faculty of the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a member of the North Carolina A&T University’s Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Board. McGlothlin has previously worked for two Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award-winning companies – At Motorola Inc., he served on the team awarded the CEO Quality Award for its work in introducing the first American-made pager into the Japanese market; And he later served as principal ergonomist for Eastman Chemical Co., where he coordinated corporate ergonomic activities and implemented the company's ergonomics process. McGlothlin is also a published author and is quoted in numerous professional journals. He has served four years as the conference co-chair for IIE’s annual Applied Ergonomics Conference and currently serves as senior vice president for technical networking on IIE’s Board of Trustees. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Tennessee. He is also certified by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics.

Amanda Mewborn, R.N., senior healthcare operational planner, Perkins+Will
Amanda Mewborn is an industrial engineer and registered nurse with more than a decade of experience improving healthcare. Amanda has a M.S. in health systems and a B.S. in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Tech, as well as a B.S. in nursing from Georgia State University. Mewborn is a diplomate in the Society for Health Systems and is currently serving on the board and served as the conference chair for the society’s 2013 conference. Amanda is a senior member in the Institute for Industrial Engineers. She is certified in pediatric nursing, pragmatic marketing certified in product management, and also a certified professional of healthcare information management systems.

Laura Moody, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of industrial engineering, Mercer University
Laura Moody taught for 12 years in Mercer’s School of Engineering before leaving Mercer to spend two years as the manager of the North American Usability Group for Whirlpool Corp. She returned to Mercer in 2003 and her primary research and teaching interests are in ergonomics and human-machine systems design. Moody has applied human factors research and design methods in a number of fields from consumer products to human systems integration for the U.S. Navy, and has more recently been directing student teams on a number of projects with Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta and Disability Connections in Macon.
