The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers serves a diverse population across the North Central Texas region. The industries in the Dallas-Fort Worth area encompass just about anything you can imagine and then some. The roles in which the members of the Institute of Industrial Engineers support these industries are just as broad.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter Mission Statement is defined by the following declaration.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of IIE, part of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, is a professional organization dedicated to service. As a group the organization will:
- Provide service to our members through the following:
- Professional development and career guidance
- Professional recognition
- Professional interaction
- Promote awareness of our profession
- Provide service to our community
- Provide service to the advancement of Industrial Engineering education
The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter seeks to fulfill their mission statement by putting their vision statement into practice. Simply selected as "Be There!" the vision statement of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter is an all encompassing trendy and inviting command that encourages the members to get involved in meetings, tours, community affairs projects, and other committee work to support the mission of the chapter.
The chapter sees itself as one that lends support and provides a community to its members. The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter also promotes self-growth and awareness of other needs of the industrial engineering professional. In working towards carrying out the chapter’s mission and vision statements, the chapter works to accomplish objectives that contribute to the chapter’s ideals. The chapter’s objectives have been outlined as such and are provided below.
- Maintain GOLD status for the chapter
- Help members grow professionally
- Use IE tools to provide service to the community
- Increase level of participation
- Develop/maintain mentor programs at high school and university level
- Foster mentor program for entry level engineers
The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter is getting ready for another great year. The chapter participates in events-year round, and is continually improving those events with new topics and approaches for all to learn and grow in the industrial engineering profession.
The chapter recently held a beginning of summer June Social Event to network and introduce the incoming chapter officers. Industrial engineer professionals in diverse industries & roles across the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex were in attendance which resulted in a great time being had by all.
The chapter plans to present the schedule of events for the year to the members in September. These events include tours and meetings addressing a mixture of industrial engineering applications and roles including a spectrum of industries include manufacturing, distribution, healthcare and ergonomics just to name a few.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter is actively involved in the community and supports several annual events. In January, members assist the Tarrant Area Food Bank which fights hunger in 13 counties.
In February, the Dallas Regional Science & Engineering Fair takes place and members of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter support that event as well. The chapter also participates in Engineering Week by holding a joint meeting with student chapters of the Institute of Industrial Engineers in the area.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Professional Chapter is looking forward to another great year.
