Chapter No. 836 University of Missouri-Columbia

Provided by Luke Burns
Edited by Emilie Gerhart

The University of Missouri Student Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers hopes to build off the momentum achieved by hosting the South Central Regional Conference and being recognized with a Gold Award. Looking toward the future, the number of officers has doubled to increase the quality of service given to the members of the chapter. The growing leadership of the chapter will be working hard to promote IIE in a number of ways in an effort to obtain a record number of members.

The officers will reach out to students with undeclared majors in an effort to inform a wide spectrum of students of industrial engineering. The officers will also focus on communicating with students studying industrial engineering to encourage involvement in IIE. The officers of the University of Missouri Student Chapter of IIE hope to gain new members by providing numerous educational opportunities and fun activities. These activities include events such as Mentor Day, High School Weekend, the South Central Regional Conference, Venture Out, bowling events, Relay for Life, BBQs, tailgates, float trips, workshops, facility tours and speakers.

Furthermore, the chapter wants to become recognized as one of the best chapters in the nation, and will demonstrate student’s abilities by competing in the Simulation Competition, Technical Paper Competition, YouTube Competition, Most Improved Competition, and sending representatives to the Regional Conference as well as the Annual Conference for the first time ever.
